Mater

“You know, like Tomater, ‘cept without the Ta”  (One of the boys’ favorite lines from Cars).

A few days ago we happened to be WAY on the other side of town picking up our meat from the meat locker.  As usual, I had the crew with me and the lady there happened to ask me if we’d seen Mater yet.  I had no idea what she was talking about and she gave me directions.  Not knowing this part of town at all, and being horrible with directions, I didn’t say anything to the boys but told them I wanted to drive around a bit.

I have no idea who did this, it was just sitting in a parking lot of an abandoned gas station, but seriously, how cute?  I think it was an old grandpa who has lots of grandkids!

If you’re local and you have Cars fans in your family, Mater is at the corner of SE 6th and Scott Avenue.  I have no idea how long he’s been there or will be there.  Liam has already asked several times if we can go back and visit.  He’s SURE that it’s the REAL guy from the movie.  “I didn’t know he lived in Des Moines!”
