Happy Birthday Liam!

March 24, 2010

The “middlest” brother turned 3 today.  In some ways it feels like he’s been 3 forever.  Liam was a baby for like 10 minutes and has always been doing things way before his time.  He is currently in the beginning stages of reading and is riding a bike (training wheels are still on, but not for much longer).  Liam has filled his role of middle brother so well.  He is so loving and patient towards older bro and is often helping him out if Gav’s having trouble.  Liam often pulls him into play and is constantly trying to engage him in conversation.  He has been Gavin’s best teacher without even realizing it.  And Liam LOVES  little Tate.  Those two are going to be best buddies.  Liam is the ONLY one in the family who can make him laugh so hard he turns red and can’t breathe (it’s sounds awful, but it’s really funny and Tate’s fine!)

Today to celebrate L’s birthday, we went bowling!!  We’ve been Wii bowling since Christmas, but this was the real deal.  The Bass Pro Shop has an amazing bowling alley (not to mention that the whole store in general is way cool for kids even if you’re not into fishing or hunting-which we so are not).

This is the first time we’ve bowled with the boys and there was a ball ramp that the boys could just push their balls off into the lane.  Combined with the bumpers, they were able to knock pins down every time (I on the other hand had some trouble!)

Just hanging out waiting for his next turn.

It was fun doing something different and the boys had a blast.  I had also been concerned about how Gav would deal with this.  We had been to Bass Pro Shop before to check out the animals and fish so he was familiar with the bowling alley.  When we told him we were going to go back to bowl today he was more than ecstatic.  We were the only people bowling so it was relatively quiet (except for the blaring country music) and he did not have any issues where he seemed to be overwhelmed or overstimulated.  Everyone had a great time and it was a memorable day!

This looks like such a blast! I love how they have that guide there, the best part is getting to watch the pins go down. Glad that Gavin had a good time and didn’t get overwhelmed…the country music would have made ME nuts 🙂
